5. Bad results like " boat-shaped " pupil can be avoided by taking as much time as necessary for the moulding of the lens to occur. 6. Traumatic opacification of the cornea does not occur if cocaine is not used too freely and the cornea is kept moist. 7. It reduces the period of hospitalisation. Patients can be discharged from the hospital at the end of a week and in many cases all the reaction of the operation subsides in a fortnight and the eye is white.
